My approach to garden design is rooted in observation, instinct and a clear sense of place. I want your garden to feel like it belongs to you, and isn't a copy and paste template.
I combine design thinking, planting knowledge and practical experience to create gardens that fit their surroundings and the people who use them.
I stay involved during the build to make sure the space develops as it should and holds onto the qualities we agreed from the start.
Here you'll find each step we'll follow in creating your dream garden.
A chance to walk the garden together and talk about what you’d like to achieve.
We’ll look at how you currently use the space, what isn’t working and what you want the garden to become.
I develop a clear written brief based on our conversation — what the garden needs to do, the look and feel you want, and the budget we’re designing within.
This becomes the foundation for the entire project.
Depending on the size of the garden, I’ll carry out the survey or arrange a professional surveyor.
I’ll assess levels, views, boundaries, soil, shade, exposure and any constraints or opportunities that will influence the design.
I create an initial concept that explores layout, flow, structure and planting direction.
You’ll see sketches, reference images and early ideas that show the character of the new space and how it might be used.
We refine this together before moving on.
Once the concept is agreed, I develop the full design — scaled layout drawings, materials, key levels, detailed elements, planting ideas and visuals.
This is the plan used for accurate costing and for briefing landscapers.
I can help you find a suitable landscaper, oversee parts of the build and support you through key decisions.
Once the garden is complete, I offer optional aftercare visits to help the planting establish and keep everything on track.
Not every garden needs the full service.
If you only need advice, an initial concept or planting design for a particular area, I can create a package that fits.
